Old Western Town Photoshoot

Reposting from an email we received from the Toronto Photographic meetup group (Not to be confused with TPMG).

Announcing a new Meetup for TORONTO PHOTOGRAPHIC

What: Old Western Town Photoshoot ... Yipie Yi-ay
When: August 30, 2009 5:00 PM
Price: CAD10.00 per person
Where:
Old Western Town
Pickering/Uxbridge
Pickering, ON L1V 0A1
Howdy Pardners!!
This is an exciting and absolutely amazing place to shoot pictures. You can smell and feel the Old West as you drive around the bend on this property to see this amazing replica of an old Western Town. The grounds are rich with old buildings, textures, props and even an old piano that will make your heart skip a beat! This unique town has endless photographic possibilities!! You won't find any prop "cut-out" store fronts, you can walk into each building and there are endless shots from endless angles. Pretty good chance we will have some folks stopping by on their horses also, which adds another dimension to the shoot.
The ?Old West? town makes you feel like you stepped back in time!
This meetup will happen on a private property, and we will be the only group in the Town. I will send out the exact location a few days before the event to those who will be attending. It is in the Pickering/Uxbridge area. There will be a charge of 10 dollars to cover the cost of renting the town.
Since this is a long shoot - please feel free to bring a lawn chair and something to eat as well as drink. Don't forget to bring along your cowboy hat and boots!!! A few models dressed in Western wear will be joining us.
We will have the "Town" from 5 pm to 10 pm. The town lights will be turned on at dusk.
Now for the weather - please check back on the meetup site the day of the shoot. I'm not anticipating rain! :)
When I was at this site last week - I took ahem - 400 plus shots - and I've posted some of them in an album on our meetup site. Just imagine the possibilities!
Look forward to seeing you there!

A New Season Upon Us

Before you know it, a new season will be upon us, and the executive strive to bring you a full and exciting new program. But as you can apprciate, nothing good can take place without the hardwork that goes into delivering these programs without our valued volunteers.

We are now accepting applications for committee volunteers and nominations for main executive positions. If you're interested please email John Wallace at ziggydoodle@rogers.com by August 31.

The new executive team will be presented and voted on by members present at our 1st meeting of the season Thursday September 3, 2009.

Marking Time and Place

We always look for ways to support fellow club members. In September, Beach Photo Club member Felicity will be opening a new exhibit of photographic images, Marking Time and Place, at galleryDK on Queen St. West. Although the exhibit will run from 3 to 27 Setpember, Felicity wanted to invite you personally to the Opening Party.

What: Marking Time and Place
When: Thursday, 3 September from 7-10 p.m.
Where: galleryDK, 1332 Queen St.W. Toronto.

RSVP: 416 778 8852, or
felicity.somerset@rogers.com by 1 September (so that I can make catering plans)

These new images are more urban and edgy than my previous work and larger in size. However, the connection between the past and the new work is quite clear as you will see from the attached image from a previous exhibit, Tree Markers.
